Having a credit card is like applying for a loan on a regular basis. Lots of people think credit card is an advantage. They can buy things every time they want it. Yet, there are still hundreds of people who don’t want credit card. To them, applying for credit cards owns a life-size responsibility beyond their limits.
Perhaps, it’s a case-to-case basis. If you want to take risks, get a credit card. Credit Cards are for those people who can handle their expense effectively and consistently. Truth is; the question “is credit card a necessity” is not enough. There are many variables involved you need to consider before applying for a credit card. This decision is not only about money but it’s about choice and control.
The Choice
You think it’s your time to have a credit card? Wait. Signing up for credit card is always a conscious decision. The decision must not be relied on pure instincts and unreliable hypothesis. In this case, allow me to use T.D. Jakes crucial points in decision making. The first point is research. How much information you understand about credit cards? Are you aware of how it works? Are you aware of its pros and cons? If you can’t provide 100% clear-cut answers to these questions, start thinking twice now.
The second point revolves around roadwork. Roadwork refers to the act of removing obstacles. When you remove all the possible barriers of having a credit card, you will see the clearer path. When this moment happens, you are now ready to face the third crucial point- the Reward. Of course, after researching and some roadworks, you can now have the ability to list all the possible choices and consequences.
Next is the fourth point: the Revelation. This is where you narrow your options and selections. Am I going to sign for Bank A or I rather go with Bank B? But Bank C has lower interest rates? Once you’ve got a decision, never forget to trace back. Adjusting the bolts and screws of your decision is called rearview. Whether you have a credit card or be tempted to get one, rearviewing is still important to stay on course.
The Control
As a starter, it’s a normal feeling to have fear of getting your first credit card. Let me tell you this- Getting a credit card is also about self-control. Think of it as your diet routine. In diet routine, you are balancing the value of carbohydrates, protein and fats to lose or gain weight. Same with credit cards, if you are not in control of what your expenses, you trap yourself in an endless chapter of stress.
Convenience- that’s what you get in owning a credit card. It allows you to create short-term loans anytime. Credit cards are also beneficial if you own a large company and you need to streamline your business transactions in a faster pace. Yet, nothing can match these two variables: control and consistency. Once you find the great formula in juggling convenience, control and consistency, you are giving your credit card scores a smooth sailing ace.
