People who think that web designing is a large, complicated world may be right in some manner especially if one has to think about how fast innovations happen in the world of web designing. Yet, no matter how much advancement came in, the basics will still not change. Thus, mastering the basic will always help you no matter how many changes web designing undergo.
Size of your graphics. Limit your graphics size to at most 12 KB. Although there is already a lot of fast internet connection available in a much wider scope, you should not take chances. It is better that you get to make sure that your graphics can load fast in any internet connection speed and computer models than find out later on that a lot of your prospect customers are get disappointed with how slow your site loads.
The use of standard layouts. One of the things that users appreciate when looking at a website is the sense of familiarity that they have with how the website looks. The more familiar a website is, the easier it is for them to make their way through one page to another. Since they already have an idea how a website looks, then they would easily know how to get from one page to another.
The choice of fonts. The main reason why you use fonts in your site is because you have some things that you would want your visitors to read. Fonts are not there only for decorative purposes. That is why when you are choosing a font, make sure that it is something that, although may not look so fancy, is easy to read and understand. Such fonts include Serif for the headlines, Verdana, Geneva, Arial and Helvetica.
The number of advertisements found in your page. Although advertisements may be a good source of income in the online business, you need to make use of them in your site in moderation. Do not crowd pages of your site with ads. This will only make viewers confused and at some point irritated. Always give a breathing space for your readers’ eyes to relax and gain focus.
Valuing time by assuring speed. Speed is one of the major needs of people and your site should be able to fulfill this need. Time is of the essence when loading your website. Every minute that your site loads slower, the more money and possible customer you lose. Also, a slow website creates a bad impression that could be spread using the word of mouth. You don’t want to know feedbacks saying that your site may have good content but it is not good enough to make people wait.

One of the reasons why the Internet has become a phenomenon is because it was able to bridge spaces in a very short period of time. It has made the world a smaller place for people to communicate and interact. Just when we thought that the net has already given us the best offer there is in terms of communication when social media became available, here comes a new face of online interaction – the latest technology from the buzzing world of Google, the Google Wave. The name is actually homage to two science fiction films, Firefly and Serenity, which makes use of the term wave as the form of communication used in the movies.
When it was released though invitations, a lot of people got confused as to how it should work and why it is much better than the good old email system. You would understand it much better if you know the problems that most users experience when using email. First, it was made forty-years ago. Though it might be quite a spectacle before, nowadays, there have been a lot of more advance innovations that are not so compatible with how email works. This has pushed email more into becoming obsolete. Second, communication has already become more demanding. There are a lot of attachments and things that you want to discuss clearly and fast. With the old email system, a lot of information gets jumbled and important flow of conversation gets messed up. This leads to confusion and some errors and delays in tasks and projects. These two problems are what Google Wave intends to solve along with more innovations that it offers.
Amidst its seemingly complex structure, Google Wave is actually patterned to, in its most basic sense, how email works. In fact, the idea is to modernize how email functions. From the much simpler form of mere exchange of messages from sender to receiver and vice-versa, this new technology reinvents a much better way to interact using messages. In fact, aside from reinventing email messaging, a lot of people say that this technology has the potential to go beyond the major popular applications being used today such as instant messaging, forum, blogs, wikis and even social media. They say so because it was able to give people a means to do all of the independent tasks that they do in different applications using one means. To understand Google Wave, one must see it as an all-in-one product, protocol and a platform which allows users to interact not only through messages in the form of texts, but also through documents. And to top all of these, it can be made available may you be using your desktop of mobile phone.

It was fun and tiring! I am talking about my trip to the country’s capital last December 2009. Fun because not only I got to experience the Manila life for three days I also got to visit my sister and bonded with her, speaking of sister, she did make a perfect host. She was our tour guide and she toured us to the most popular places in Makati. I have to say that Makati is truly a business center.
We arrived at the NAIA 3 at exactly 12NN; my sister picked us up and headed straight to her apartment for a lunch. After resting for a couple of hours, we roamed around Greenbelt. We then had coffee at Starbucks (I really wish there’s a Starbucks in Davao). It was past 8 in the evening when we got out of Starbucks. We continued to wander around the busy streets of Ayala and stop at Ayala Triangle Park to have our foot some rest.
After discussing where to have our dinner, we finally settled down at Tokyo Tokyo, a Japanese food chain. It was almost midnight when we decided to go home and called it the day.
Our second day was spent in Manila Ocean Park and the biggest mall of Asia none other than the SM Mall of Asia or popularly known as MOA. The Ocean Park experience was fun and I felt like a kid again having those little kids in the same room with us. We also get to watch the famous “The Mermaid Show”. The show was just short but it was entertaining.
Our next stop was the Mall of Asia. The mall was huge and it houses loads of cool stuffs (if you are shopping addict then you’ll know what I mean). When we got to the mall we felt the need to eat and decided to chow at Wendy’s, another famous food chain. Vhong Navarro, Valerie Concepcion and local celebrities were at the mall doing a show. We wanted to have our dinner at the “The Racks” but the restaurant was already full when we got there. According to my sister, their food is superb but we could not wait until there’s a vacant seat because we are all hungry so just decided to eat at the food court. It was still early and none of us wanted to go home yet and we ended up watching Ninja Assassin. The film was great but cinema was too cold that I couldn’t concentrate watching the movie.
Our third day was spent in Greenhills and some other malls in Manila. While on our way to Greenhills, few local bands had a free concert in the MRT station. We saw Sandwich, Sugarfree and some other not so popular bands performed. It was another tiring day yet fun. We had our dinner at the “Old Spaghetti House” which by the way was the best dinner I had. Their food was excellent and so was the ambiance. The restaurant is located inside the Waltermart Mall in Makati, just a walking distance from my sister’s apartment.
After dinner, we headed home and called it a day. We were exhausted from our mall hopping activity. It also marked the end of our Manila trip.
The whole Manila escapade was just the beginning of my dream to travel the whole country and the rest of the world!
